Coon Rapids (November, 20 2020) – With the latest round of changes imposed by Governor Walz’ executive order, announced November 18, 2020, Cheap Skate will pause public hours of operation for family fun, but will continue to be active in the community by launching the “Pizza for Heroes” campaign to give love, support and PIZZA to staff members at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. (Located .5 miles from the rink.)

“We’ve been active in this community for over 40 years, and our friends, neighbors and family at Mercy need a boost right now” said Ed Golebiowski who operates the skating rink.

The campaign will allow anyone to purchase (sponsor) a pizza from the rink’s website that will be delivered to the hospital along with a personalized thank you message for the staff.

“Our goal is to keep the spirits up for our front-line workers and to keep some of our employees working during this 30 day pause. We hope to fill up the hallways at Mercy with thank you cards.” says Golebiowski.

Deliveries start to Mercy right away this Monday, November 23 and will continue daily as long as we receive the support to do so.

Our friends and neighbors that are front-line workers need your help and support. We ask that you help us get the word out and spread some good news through our community.
