As a father of a middle schooler and elementary student, this has already been an interesting year to say the least.
As we move deeper into the school year, fundraising will definitely be a challenge for us all. While the likelihood of “School Spirit” nights at the rink remain in the balance, we have come up with an alternative way to help you fill the gaps. This year we are launching a virtual school sprit program in which parents can purchase a gift card to the rink and the school receives a 50% rebate. The cards can be used for admission, rentals, bounce houses, prize counter, and concessions. No blackouts, almost no exclusions. (we just ask that they are not used for future fundraising events 😊)
Once parents purchase the cards online, https://app.getoccasion.com/xp/XVcJFBCF, Cheap Skate will physically send out the gift card to the recipient along with a thank you card on behalf of the school benefiting.
We believe that this could be quite successful. Our walk-in traffic over the past 6 weeks is up 40% over the same time last year. While we do have a maximum capacity of 25% still set forth, we have reduced daily hours and will add more days to our schedule to accommodate. We are seeing families come out again.
